Mayo county town mourns death of popular personality Sheila Coughlan

The death has taken place of Sheila Coughlan (née Mongan), Springfield, Castlebar, and late of The Grove, Ballindine.

She died peacefully at home yesterday surrounded by her loving family.

The news has cast a shadow of loss and sorrow in the county town where she was held in very high regard.

She is deeply regretted by her daughters Deirdre, Mairead (Jennings) and Julie, son John, sister Bridie (Ballindine), son-in-law JP, daughter-in-law Sinead, grandchildren Leah, Emma, Adam, Tommy and Alanna, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Sheila was predeceased by her husband Tommy, parents Delia and Michael, sisters Mary, Kathleen and Josie and nephew Gregory.

A much-loved and affable personality, she had a long association with Castlebar ICA.

Her remains will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Wednesday from 5.30 with removal at 7 p.m. to her residence.

Removal from her residence on Thursday morning at 10.30 a.m for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Sheila will be laid to rest afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
