All-Ireland double for Mayo-based masters athlete

Moy Valley AC athlete Seán Gallagher put in two fantastic performances at the 123.ie National Masters Indoor Championships in the TUS Arena, Athlone, at the weekend.

He had a super time on the track, first claiming national gold in the M55 1,500m run, showing great strength and determination to take the title from Ronan O’Reilly from Laois, with Kevin McGlone from Sligo in third.

After a short recovery, Seán was back on the track for the 800m run, where he produced another brilliant display to take silver in a season’s best time of 2:12, with only 0.1 seconds separating the first two finishers in a thrilling finish.
