All you need to know about St. Patrick's Day parades in Mayo - including the weather forecast!

The weather for the St. Patrick's Day parades in Mayo tomorrow will be relatively mild but breezy.

However, outbreaks of rain are forecast at intervals up to 3 p.m.

The parade in Castlebar, which starts at 12 noon, is likely to be fine for the first hour.

But showers are expected between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m.

The afternoon parades look likely, at this point, to avoid showers.

Highest temperatures will be between 11 to 14 degrees in a fresh to strong and gusty southwest wind.

So the message is to wrap up well and bring an umbrella, just in case.

The celebrations get underway at 8 a.m. on Achill Island when local pipe bands will begin marching, converging at St. Patrick’s Church in Pollagh for Aifreann Gaeilge at 9 a.m.

A joint performance follows at 10am, before the bands march to Dookinella for 12 noon Mass and return to their villages in the afternoon.
