Lots of events for St. Patrick's Day in Mayo town

The theme for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ballinrobe is ‘Rooted in Tradition – Enriching our Community.’ The schedule of events will include music and dance in Cornmarket from 1.30 p.m., to 3 p.m., and the parade will commence at 3.30 p.m.

At 1.30 p.m. there will be a pre-parade traditional music session and dance on the stage in Cornmarket, with the ukulele group and Chloe Feeney providing the music. The parade will commence at 3.30 p.m. beside St. Joseph’s Primary School, Convent Road, and floats need to be in position at 3.10 p.m. sharp.

There will be over €1,000 in prizes for the best floats, with a prize of €500 for first place; €300 for second place; €200 for the funniest float; €200 for the judge’s special recognition.

At 4.15 p.m. the winning floats and winners of the art competition will be announced at the podium in Cornmarket.

There will be tea and coffee afterwards in the Parish Centre.
