Wet and windy St Patrick's Day forecast for Mayo

Rain will sweep across Mayo on Tuesday as outbreaks of wet weather move in off the Atlantic, making for a blustery St Patrick's Day.

Conditions will be noticeably windy through the day, with fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds bringing periods of rain to the county.

Some sunny spells are possible where showers ease, but Atlantic-facing areas will bear the brunt of the unsettled conditions.

Highest temperatures will reach 11 to 15 degrees.

Tuesday night will turn mostly dry with some mist, drizzle and fog developing in places.

Lowest temperatures of 2 to 9 degrees in light to moderate southwest breezes.

Looking ahead, conditions will improve markedly from Wednesday with largely dry and settled weather expected through the second half of the week.

Thursday and Friday are forecast to bring widespread sunshine and mild temperatures.
