Mayo councillor vents frustration at lack of progress on pedestrian crossing
A MAYO councillor has taken to social media to vent his frustration at the lack of progress on upgrading a pedestrian crossing.
It relates to the crossing in the centre of Foxford town, where Councillor Neil Cruise has previously warned of a public protest if matters are not resolved.
Safety concerns at the crossing have been an ongoing issue for a number of years now.
A design and Section 38 public consultation notice were due to be published in Q1 of this year, but there's still no sign of them.
Writing on his Facebook page today, Councillor Cruise appealed to Mayo County Council:
“Publish the plan!
“Pass the Section 38!!
“Get works underway!!!”
And he had a message for the council and TII: “I hold Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Mayo County Council responsible for accidents and injury at this pedestrian crosding, due to their inordinate delay in taking corrective action."
Enough is enough, he stated.
Councillor Cruise has been repeatedly highlighting safety concerns at the town centre pedestrian crossing.
