Fine weekend ahead for Mayo before unsettled week

Saturday night will be dry at first with clear spells, though cloud will increase from the northwest overnight with some light rain and drizzle pushing southeastwards.

Lowest temperatures of 1 to 8 degrees in light variable breezes, turning mostly light to moderate southwesterly later.

Sunday will bring a mix of cloud and some rain and drizzle pushing southeastwards through the morning.

A clearance to mostly dry conditions with bright or sunny spells will follow from the northwest through the afternoon.

Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds, veering northwesterly.

Conditions will turn more unsettled from Monday night, with outbreaks of rain expected to push across the county.

A more disrupted week lies ahead, with heavy showers, hail and the chance of thunder by Tuesday, and wintry showers possible through midweek.

Highest temperatures will fall sharply to just 5 to 9 degrees, with strong to near gale force winds at times in western coastal parts.
