Death of owner of Mayo transport company is deeply regretted

The death has taken place of Michael (Mick) McGrath (McGrath Coaches), Milltown, Glenamoy, Ballina.

He died at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, yesterday surrounded by his loving family.

The deceased was widely known throughout the county through his work with McGrath Coaches, which he ran with his son, Thomas.

Many fond tributes are being to him on social media.

One stated: "We will always remember his great sense of humour, his kindness, his music and the fact he was a true, obliging, gentleman."

Another said: "A character and a gentleman gone."

Michael will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, sons Padraic, Michael and Thomas, daughters Mary and Sally, brother Brendan Rooney and his wife Eileen, sons-in-law John and Pat, daughters-in-law Angela, Mary and Patricia, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours, extended family, work colleagues and musicians, also Ellie and Teresa.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the McGrath family on their loss.

Michael was predeceased by his parents Paddy and Sarah, his sisters Mary, Eileen, Peggy, Sadie, Ann, Bridie, Kathleen and his brother Paddy.

Michael’s remains will be reposing at the family residence (F26 PO25) on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m.

Removal afterwards to Saint Paul’s Church, Glenamoy (F26 K660), arriving at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass takes place on Monday at 12.30 p.m, with burial afterwards in Glenamoy Cemetery.
