Man sent forward for trial on Mayo house burglary charge

A man accused of burglary in Knock has been sent forward for trial following a hearing at Castlebar District Court.

The defendant appeared before the court in relation to an alleged incident at Carramore Drive in the town on January 12.

Evidence was given by gardaí that at approximately 11.30 a.m., two males were observed entering a property at Carramore, Knock.

Garda Daniel Costello told the court that a neighbour had raised concern after seeing two men enter the house, knowing they should not have been there.

The court heard that as gardaí attended the scene, two males exited via a rear patio door, with one of the individuals allegedly discarding a flick knife, which was recovered and produced in court.

It was outlined that the property had recently been sold to a new owner.

Judge Vincent Deane ruled that he was declining jurisdiction in the matter.

The case was sent forward on indictment, with a date of June 17, 2026, fixed for the service of the book of evidence.
