Mayo kitchen porter given six-year disqualification for drink driving offence

A Westport man has been disqualified from driving for six years following a drink driving conviction at Castlebar District Court.

Mariusz Kloczkowski, of Glenlara Park, Castlebar, pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court heard that on June 15, 2025, Garda Carter found Kloczkowski's vehicle stopped on a bend at Tully, Newport Road, Castlebar, obstructing both lanes before he drove off on the wrong side of the road.

He later failed a roadside breath test, recording 98mg of alcohol per 100ml.

Sergeant O’Reilly outlined the facts, while the court was told the defendant had previous convictions, including one for dangerous driving and an earlier drink-driving offence.

Mr. Tom Walsh, solicitor, said his client is working as a kitchen porter and has learned his lesson.

Judge Deane imposed a mandatory six-year driving disqualification and fined the defendant €200.
