Big win for Mayo school in Newstalk live quiz final
Knock National School has been crowned winners at the second annual Big School Quiz live final, in collaboration with Newstalk and Sligo Education Centre.
The event took place in Brooks Hotel Dublin, where three primary schools battled it out for the coveted Sligo Education Cup.
This initiative brought together almost 800 students from 186 primary schools across Ireland.
The first round of the quiz took place on March 12 and was hosted by Newstalk’s presenters of ‘The Hard Shoulder’ Ciara Kelly and Shane Coleman, with all schools competing for a place in yesterday’s grand finale.
Participating alongside the winners was St Felim’s National School, Co.Cavan and Drummin National School, Co.Mayo.
Yesterday’s quiz was hosted by Newstalk’s Technology Correspondent, Jess Kelly. This year’s top team won the Sligo Education Cup, €250 Harvey Norman voucher each, and a tour of the Newstalk office.
In addition to the fun and competition, the event served a meaningful purpose.
All proceeds from The Big School Quiz support Newstalk’s charity partner Make-A-Wish Ireland, with over €3,000 raised to help grant wishes for children, with critical medical conditions.
