Mayo must win and hope that results elsewhere go their way
Going into the final round of regular season fixtures in Division 2 the LGFA Lidl National League, Mayo still have a chance of promotion to Division 1 – but it's a long shot.
Diane O'Hora's charges have to win at home to Monaghan and hope that Wexford do them a favour by beating or drawing with Donegal, which seems like a tall order given that the Model County have yet to win a game in six outings.
In the unlikely event that Mayo and Donegal both lose, then the winner in the game between Tipperary and Tyrone would finish second, gaining promotion and a place in the Division 2 final agaisnt Cavan. That, too, seems like a very unlikely scenario.
Mayo's opponents, Monaghan, are safe from relegation fears and will play Division 2 football again next year.
The meeting of Mayo and Monaghan – which throws in at 2 p.m. in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar, on Sunday (March 29) – will be streamed live. Tickets for the encounter are available at https://tinyurl.com/Mayo-Monaghan-29March.
