No reply for RTÉ about ghost estates in Mayo

A REQUEST by RTÉ for information about ghost housing estates in Mayo was not responded to by the county council.

And Independent member Councillor Michael Kilcoyne wants to know why.

RTÉ News, he said, wrote to every local authority in the country about ghost estates. Four counties, including Mayo, did not respond.

Does Mayo County Council not know about the local estate on the Ballinrobe Road with 77 units in it, which had been raised on many occasions, he commented at a Castlebar Municipal District meeting.

Councillor Kilcoyne wanted to know: Who got the letter from RTÉ and why did they not reply.

“Are we short of staff to reply to them,” he asked.

It's public information, he said, and the programme will come across that there's no problem in Mayo as the council didn't reply.
