Mayo man (34) makes court apology for his drunken behaviour

A man was discovered drunk in the grounds of a GAA club.

Clive Maughan, aged 34, of Tyrawley Terrace, Ballina, admitted the public order offence at a sitting of Ballina District Court.

At 5 p.m. on October, 8, 2025, gardaí received a report of a drunk male in the vicinity of Ballina Stephenites GAA Club.

Maughan was in an intoxicated state.

He was missing a shoe.

There were parents and children in the area at the time.

Maughan resisted arrest and had to be restrained.

Solicitor Mr. Peter Loftus said his client wished to apologise for his actions.

Judge Vincent Deane convicted and fined the man €300.
