Mayo Women's League get ready for Angela Hearst Cup campaign

THE Mayo Women's League is making a welcome return to the FAI Angela Hearst Inter-League Cup this month.

Having reached the semi-finals in their most recent entry in 2024, the league was absent from the competition last season.

Final preparations are being made for their return, where they are pitted in Group 1 against Donegal Women's League and Eastern Women's Football League.

First up is a home game against the Eastern League, taking place at the grounds of Kiltimagh Knock United on Sunday, April 12 (TBC). And they will be on their travels to Donegal on May 24 for their second game.

There's strong representation from along the western seaboard in the competition this season, with Clare District Soccer League and Galway FA also featuring.

The Mayo Women's League views the national competition for senior women as an important platform to allow players represent their county.

Many of those players have enjoyed success at the Gaynor Cup over the years at underage level, and after a good showing two seasons ago there's strong hopes of being in the mix when the competition comes down to the business end in the summer.

Of their group opponents, Mayo made their debut back in 2024 against Dublin powerhouse league the Eastern Women’s Football League (EWFL). The result may not have gone their way that day, but it was an impressive debut and the experience of that and on to the semi-final will stand to them as they navigate this campaign.

The finalised squad will be announced soon.

The Mayo management team comprises of the following:
