New album by Mayo-based artist released today

Mayo-based artist Train Room has a new album, Station Road, released today.

An independent release, it was produced in Co. Mayo and tracks have already made their way around the world thanks to BBC Sounds and SiriusXM.

Station Road is the second album from Balla native Joe Monaghan, a songwriter and producer who works under the name Train Room.

Written and self-produced between 2024 and 2026, the record reflects on childhood, place and memory, all centred around the street where he grew up.

Rather than nostalgia as sentimentality, the album treats memory as texture – layered into arrangement, atmosphere and tone. “I wanted to bring the listener back to where I grew up - back to childhood - through music,” Joe exlpalined.

Critics have been enjoying the new release. “Train Room captures something universal: the dizzying rush of youth, and the way its echoes continue to shape who we become,” said Atwood Magazine, while Broke 8 Records attested: “Station Road feels like a powerful sense of arrival.”
