Mayo county town grieving death of 'a wonderful woman'

It was with great sadness that the unexpected passing of Olga Melnychuk, Lios na Circe, Saleen, Castlebar, and formerly of Chervone Town, Ukraine, was announced.

Predeceased by her beloved only son Mark and her mother Halayna and her father Yolodimyr, she will be sadly missed by her heartbroken daughter Ilona and Ilona’s partner Hervé, her brother Yuri and Ilona’s dad Gennadiy, her nieces, nephews, cousins, work colleagues, relatives and many friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their immeasurable loss.

Olga was well known and liked in Castlebar, having worked in Castlebar Primary School, formerly St. Patricks NS, and MSLETB.

Many fond tributes are being paid to her on social media.

One stated: "A wonderful woman who always went out of her way to help those close to her, a kind friend and neighbour.

"We will cherish the memories we have of Olga."

Another said: "What a beautiful lady who was so loved in Ireland."

Olga will repose at Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, on Thursday from 6 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m.

The funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar on Friday for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Afterwards Olga will be laid to rest with her beloved son Mark in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
