Friday night will remain wet and windy early on, with gales continuing on western and northern coasts.

The rain will clear eastwards overnight, followed by scattered showers of rain or sleet and some clear spells.

Winds will ease through the night. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will bring fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds with gales on coasts.

A crisp and sunny start in the east will give way to scattered blustery showers spreading from the west, some heavy with a chance of hail and thunder.

Sunday will be another breezy day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy with a chance of hail.
