Project to create teen space at Mayo MUGA

A PROJECT is being formulated to create a space for teenagers to meet up at the MUGA in Ballyhaunis.

The town is growing three times faster than any town in the county, local councillor Alma Gallagher told a municipal district meeting, with a high percentage of teenagers.

The MUGA is where they congregate and an application is being put together to have a social area for them to come to.

The amenity would feature a DJ station to play music, solar panel so they can charge phones, and it will be well lit.

There has been consultation with parks officer Peter Gill, with strong engagement with the community.

An application has been submitted to seek funding.
