Fresh push to address a Mayo long-running traffic congestion issue

A fresh move is being initiated to address a long-running traffic congestion problem in Mayo's county town.

Councillor Ger Deere is seeking action by the roads section of Castlebar Municipal District to put in place a permanent solution to resolve the ongoing traffic problems at Gallows Hill junction in the town.

Traffic coming from the Rathbawn, Pound Road and Snugboro areas of the town are consistently held up during busy periods at the Chapel Street, Newline and Tucker Street junction.

Councillor Deere said it is time a solution is found once and for all.

The matter will be debated at next Wednesday's meeting of the municipal district.
