Blackie sees red over 'lethal' pedestrian crossing

A PEDESTRIAN crossing located near two schools in Castlebar has been described as 'lethal'.

Councillor Blackie Gavin told of his frustration in trying to have road marking put in place at the traffic lights and crossing located between Davitt College and Scoil Raiftéiri at Springfield in the county town.

“There have been a few minor accidents there and I am really concerned that somebody will be seriously injured, or worse, at the location.

“Because of the absence of markings, many mororists are not taking any heed when the lights tuirn red. It's shocking that no action is being taken despite my raising of this issue on a consistent basis over a long period of time," Councillor Gavin complained.
