Friends of Joe Deacy to hold memorial events in Mayo in August

FRIENDS of Joseph Deacy, St. Albans, England, whose death in Mayo in August of last year is still under investigation by An Garda Siochána, have organised a number of events in his memory to take place in the county on Sunday, August 12.

A Mass in Joe's honour, marking the first anniversary of his passing, takes place at Bohola Church at 11.30 a.m. followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at 1 p.m. at Gortnasillagh, Swinford, where the body of the deceased was discovered on August 12, 2017.

This will be followed by a memorial GAA match at the Community Ground, Swinford, at 2 p.m.

Details of the events have been shared across social media using the hashtag #justiceforjoe

In the aftermath of his death, gardaí determined that it was a case of homicide, the post-mortem showing he had suffered head injuries.
