Passing of widely respected Castlebar personality

THE death has taken place of Christy Creighton, Newtown, Castlebar.

In his 86th year, he waspredeceased by his wife Gloria (nee Dalton) and daughter Margaret.

He is mourned by his daughter Regina, sons Peter, Charlie and Ciarán, daughters-in-law Fionnuala and Amy, grandchildren Elsa, Rory, Daragh, Beibhinn, Megan and Aisling, brother Monsignor Fr. Edward Creighton, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and a wide circle of neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

A much-loved personality, he was a retired member of the staff of the Department of Agriculture, Davitt House, Castlebar, where he was held in very high regard by his colleagues.

The deceased was closely associated with the Society of St. Vincent De Paul for many years, carrying out immense work in a quite and unselfish manner.

His remains will be reposing at Coady's Funeral Home, on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. with removal at 8 p.m. to The Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, to arrive approximately 8.30 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Coillte Bó Cemetery, Loughglynn, Co. Roscommon.
