Five-mile tailback approaching Knock Shrine

A five-mile tailback is being reported on the Ballyhaunis road into Knock Shrine.

The gardaí and stewards are in the area, with a virtual lock down at the location.

There are concerns that it may lead to other traffic difficulties as a result.

AA Roadwatch are also reporting that traffic is very slow also on the N17 northbound, with a 4.5km tailback approaching the road closure outside Claremorris. It’s also heavy approaching the N17 on the N60 Ballyhaunis/Claremorris Road in both directions.

Several road closures are in place, including the main road through Knock village (R329) and the N17 between Charlestown and Claremorris. A number of roads just off the N17 are also closed, including a stretch of the N83.
