CÓR Mhaigh Eo, together with Resurgam Choir, will perform ‘The Seven Last Words from the Cross’, by Heinrich Schutz, and works by Johann Schein, Michael Praetorius and Orlandus Lassus, in St. Patrick’s Church, Newport, on Wednesday, April 17, at 8 p.m.

The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble will accompany the choirs. Formed in 1993, they are an Early Music group that perform in Early Music concerts and festivals on period instruments.

Cór Mhaigh Eo, under the direction of Dr. Brian Lennon, is excited to perform again with Resurgam, a leading Irish chamber choir, founded and conducted by Mark Duley who is well known nationally and internationally.

Fresh from their performance with Chamber Choir Ireland of ‘An Island Sings’, which premiered in the National Concert Hall, Dublin, on March 24, Cór Mhaigh Eo look forward to singing the very appropriate pieces of music for Holy Week/Easter Week.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear beautiful choral singing accompanied by Renaissance instruments in the magnificent setting of Newport Church. An ethereal Easter experience for all.
