Knockrooskey school extension celebrations

THIS morning (Friday), at 11 a.m., Minister Michael Ring will officially open new classrooms at Knockrooskey National School near Westport.

Knockrooskey NS received a grant of €170,000 in 2018 under the Department of Education’s Additional Accommodation Scheme to fund the new classrooms.

Speaking ahead of today’s event, Minister Ring said: “I’m delighted to be opening this magnificent refurbished and extended new school. With the addition of a mainstream classroom with en suite toilets and an assisted users WC, the school has been greatly enhanced.

Having a high quality school premises is important for the future of Knockrooskey and will help make the area more attractive for young families.

This investment reflects this government’s continued commitment to rural Ireland.”
