Mayoman appointed to prestigious golfing role

A MEMBER of Castlebar Golf Club has been appointed the 71st president of the Golfing Union of Ireland.

Jim McGovern was elected to the prestigious role at yesterday's annual general meeting of the organisation.

He succeeds Templemore's John Moloughney after serving a year as president-elect.

A homecoming reception in Jim's honour takes place in the clubhouse of Castlebar Golf Club tonight, starting at 8 p.m.
