Coda all set for templebar tradfest 2015

Following on from their recent performances on RTE’s Céilí House and Sunday Miscellany, Mayo group Coda are set to perform at this year’s Templebar TradFest. Coda will take to the stage in St. Werburgh's Church, Dublin, on Saturday, January 2015. Tickets are available from www.templebartrad.com.

St. Werburgh's, built originally in the 12th century, is one of the oldest churches in Dublin. It is situated inside the walls of Viking Dublin, beside the Wood Quay site, and was named after a Saxon princess, Werburga. Although there are other churches and monasteries named after this princess, it is generally accepted that the Dublin church is the oldest.

This atmospheric venue should provide the perfect acoustic setting for Coda’s seven-part harmonies in an eclectic mix of musical styles, including Celtic and North American music, traditional and contemporary folk songs, original compositions and popular songs from sources as diverse as Clannad, Tom Waits, Van Morrison and The Beatles.

The group’s repertoire comprises both a capella arrangements and songs with instrumental accompaniment as well as traditional Irish music.

The Temple Bar TradFest, now in its 10th year, has gained a reputation as the one of the biggest and best festivals of traditional Irish, folk and Celtic music in Ireland. The festival continues until Sunday, February 1.

Coda comprises Declan Askin, Alan Drumm, Conall Ó Domhnaill, Brian Lennon, Mike Cannon, Steve Bryant and Leonard Kelly.
