Grease lightning in Belmullet

THE number one party musical Grease is set to rock Our Lady’s Secondary School, Belmullet, this Friday and Saturday (November 25 and 26).

Grease is one of the most successful musicals, telling a tale of young love in the summer of 1959, complete with bobby socks, swirling skirts, leather jackets and slicked-back hair.

The musical begins with two teens - Sandy Dumbrowski (Áine Conway), an uptight, nerdy girl who has moved to Rydell from Australia, and Danny Zuko (James Doran), a jack-the-lad, 'T-Bird' - having a summer romance.

When they return to school they do not realise that they will both be attending Rydell High School along with two well-known groups, the ‘T-Birds’ and the ‘Pink Ladies'.

This musical is based on the relationship between Sandy and Danny, the problems they face and the ups and downs encountered during high school. The main characters and the unusual pairing of Sandy Dumbrowski and Danny Zuko along with the classic sing-along songs make for an enjoyable evening of entertainment for all the family.

The transition year students, under the guidance of musical director Ms. Áine McNally, director Ms. Lisa Blake, choreographer Ms. Holly McAndrew and TY coordinator Mrs. Hanoria Hough, have worked extremely hard since the start of the school year. They have put their heart and soul into ensuring that this will be an enjoyable and entertaining production.

Tickets are now on sale at €10 for adults and €5 for students, and can be purchased in the school office or by calling (097) 81157. Doors open at 7 p.m. each night and the show will start at 7.30 sharp. Book your tickets now to ensure you don't miss out on a night of sumptuous singing, delectable dancing and accomplished acting.
