Woman taken from the river moy is named

A WOMAN whose body was taken from the River Moy in Ballina on Thursday has been named as Loretta Garrett from Cluain Na Rí, Ballina. She was in her 40s.

The alarm was raised after a handbag identified as belonging to Ms. Garrett was found at the Salmon Weir Bridge close to the Ridge Pool.

The dead woman, a native of Bonniconlon, will be laid to rest in Bonniconlon Cemetery on Sunday following Requiem Mass for the repose of her soul.

Gardaí say there are no suspicious circumstances attached to what they describe as 'a tragic incident'.
