Death of westport businessman and angling enthusiast

THE death has taken place of Norman Sheldon Heweston, Westport, a widely known and respected personality.

A member of one of Westport’s oldest and most respected families, the late Mr. Heweston was attached to the clerical staff of Pollexfens, The Quay, for many years.

One of the best known anglers in the west of Ireland, he was a regular competitor at the world trout fly angling contest on Lough Mask. He was also a keen soccer fan.

Mr. Heweston was proprietor of a fishing tackle shop at Bridge Street, Westport. He was aged 95.

His remains will be reposing at Navin’s Funeral Home today (Sunday) from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. Burial takes place in Holy Trinity Cemetery tomorrow (Monday) following funeral service at 3 p.m. in Holy Trinity Church.
