Signing the contract for the new Castlebar swimming pool complex and outdoor education building at Lough Lannagh.

Work starts on €12m. pool and outdoor pursuits project

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny and Minister for Sport Michael Ring this morning (Monday) visited the site of the new National Outdoor Pursuits Academy and Swimming Pool in Castlebar as contractors arrived on site to begin work.

Commented Deputy Kenny: “Today represents a very positive day for Castlebar as this very significant construction project gets underway.

The facility to be constructed here on the site at Lough Lannagh will serve the people of the town and county for many years to come. The two buildings will contain both a 25m swimming pool and children's pool along with all associated changing facilities and the National Outdoor Pursuits Academy, which will include teaching rooms as well as storage and gym facilities.”

The Taoiseach thanked all associated with progressing the project to this stage and said he looked forward to seeing the work progress.
