Motorist sustains serious injuries in two-car crash

THE main Westport to Castlebar road has reopened to traffic this evening. 

It was closed for a number of hours following a road collision at Sheeaune near the town of Westport.  

The two vehicle collision occurred near the Topaz filling station.

A man sustained serious injuries in the collision.  He was driving one of the two vehicles involved.

The road was closed to traffic as gardaí carried out a technical investigation of the crash scene.
