Niall Joyce has written a new chapter in Mayo handball history

THE Connaught Telegraph’s Young Sports Stars of the Year 2015 award winners, Number 2:  Niall Joyce (handball)

Last year was a phenomenally successful one for Niall Joyce, who claimed a number of national titles, including a minor doubles, but it is for his outstanding achievement in the month of February, when he won the All-Ireland minor 40x20 singles title, that he is being honoured.

He brought the cup back to Mayo for just the second time ever and the first for 16 years.

Niall also won a silver medal for St. Colman’s College in the Colleges Intermediate 40x20 Doubles All-Ireland Handball Championships and went on to represent Mayo in the play-offs to become a member of Team Ireland for the World Handball Championships in Calgary, Canada.
