Swinford Tidy Towns votes 'No' to election posters

SWINFORD Tidy Towns committee have requested all candidates and parties in the upcoming general election to refrain from putting up election posters inside the Swinford town boundaries.

Numerous tidy towns groups in towns and villages all over Ireland have issued similar requests.

Writing on their website blog, the committee said previously in local elections they requested all the candidates not to put up election posters within the town boundary. This made a huge difference to the appearance of the town and was very much appreciated by the community.

The committee have asked all election agents to notify contractors employed to erect election posters of the request.

They have reminded those who do put up posters anywhere in the county that when removing them, to take away the cable ties including any other cable ties left behind and to recycle them appropriately.
