Parking chaos in county town

Truck trying to navigate Cavendish Lane

IT seems Castlebar is succumbing to parking chaos this week.

An irate reader dropped by our offices this morning having snapped the mayhem on Cavendish Lane at around 9.30 a.m.

A waste disposal truck going about its business found the lane impossible to navigate due to vehicles being parked on both sides.

At the other end of town, the new-look Newline, officially opened to great fanfare last weekend, is also attracting comments, with motorists parking on the footpaths, blocking the new cycle lanes.

Writing on The Connaught Telegraph Facebook page, one contributor complained: “Motorists shouting about cyclists on the roads and when lanes are put in for the cyclists the motorist take them over too.”
