Gardai investigate break-in and a number of thefts

INCIDENCES of theft being investigated by gardaí in Mayo include kitchen applicances taken from a new home in Ballinrobe and the theft of creamery cans near Swinford.

Kitchen equipment was taken from a house which is being built at Ballymartin, Ballinrobe. The applicances, taken sometime between 9 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday last, include a new oven cooker, an electric hob and a washing machine. It is believed the burglars gained entry through the front door.

Gardaí in Ballina are investigating the theft of equipment from an independent contractor involved in roadworks for Mayo County Council in the townland of Byhalla, Attymass.

Eight ‘control’ barriers which had been placed around a manhole were stolen sometime between Wednesday and Friday last. A mechanical digger at the scene was also interfered with and a quantity of diesel taken.

An unusual theft took place in the townland of Knocks, Killasser, Swinford, on Saturday last – three creamery cans were stolen from a farmyard.

Gardaí at Swinford are investigating.
