Concerns raised over condition of Castlebar wall

AN elected member of Mayo County Council is claiming that the old convent wall, facing onto Castle Street in Castlebar, is in danger of collapsing.  

Councillor Frank Durcan expressed his fears at a meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District.

The independent representatives warned officials that it will fall down unless it is pointed or plastered as a matter of urgency.

'It's bulging as it is and the heavy rain is not helping the situation. I appreciate good work has been carried oiut to enhance it but it needs to be fully completed with the wall made safe,' he added.
