A ‘SUBSTANTIAL’ cannabis growhouse in the Belcarra area has been raided and closed down by gardaí.

The street value of cannabis plants seized in the operation by members of the Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by local gardaí, is the region of €40,000.

The swoop on the suspect premises occurred at around half six on Tuesday, March 1.

One man was later arrested and held under the terms of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He was later released. A file is to be prepared for the DPP.
