Official opening of Charlestown Service Station

THE new Charlestown Service Station will be officially opened on Saturday, February 18, by Minister of State for Regional and Economic Development, Michael Ring, at 2.30 p.m. at the service station.

Owners of The Galway Plaza, Pat and Una McDonagh, will be joined for the official opening celebrations by Fair City’s Ryan Andrews, who plays Sean Cassidy on the hit RTÉ soap, as well as stars from the Mayo football team, members of the local community, local politicians and other dignitaries.

Guests will be entertained with music, face painters, stilt walkers, cartoon characters, prize giveaways, and Midwest Radio will broadcast live. All this will be taking place between 2 and 5 p.m.

Said Supermac’s managing director Pat McDonagh: “We are delighted Minister Ring gave us the honour of officially opening Charlestown Service Station. We are heartened the minister recognises the benefits of Charlestown Service Station in providing essential services for the local community and motorists on the N5 and N17.

As with all our stores and service stations throughout the country, we strive to be strong members of the local community and we welcome the local schools, businesses and sports clubs in particular to attend.

Una and I have been overwhelmed by the level of support members of the local community have given us to date. It means a great deal to us to see the relationship developing in the local area.”

Thirty new jobs came on stream with the opening of Charlestown Service Station, located on the N17, just off the N5.
