Important information for Mayo community groups

MAYO Public Participation Network (PPN) is organising a number of information evenings for community groups in March and April.

The first series of meetings in March will take place in the four municipal districts in Mayo and is open to groups, registered with Mayo PPN, in these areas. The April meeting will take place in Castlebar and is open to all groups registered with Mayo PPN.

In March there will be a series of information evenings for community groups in the four municipal districts. The municipal district in which your group operates in is the correct meeting for your group to attend. This is the list of venues.

West Mayo (7 p.m., March 21, Hotel Newport)

Claremorris (7 p.m., March 23, McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris)

Ballina (7 p.m., March 28, Newman Institute Lecture Room 1, Ballina)

Castlebar (7 p.m., March 30, Macalla Hall, Lough Lannagh, Castlebar)

The evening will provide an opportunity for groups to meet and discuss issues relevant to their municipal district. Each meeting will also have two information sessions from local Development companies.

The first of these sessions will look at how the LEADER programme is progressing in Mayo and discuss the range of supports available to community groups.

The second session will provide information on the Rural Social Scheme (RSS) and how it can benefit your community. Mayo PPN is asking groups to please confirm attendance at these evening if possible.

On April 6, a county information night will take place in Macalla Hall, Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, at 7 p.m.. This evening is open to all groups registered with Mayo PPN.

The evening will start with a meeting to discuss issues of importance to Mayo PPN and to complete any of the formal work of the network.

This will be followed by information sessions from Mayo Volunteer Centre on Garda Vetting and the 2016 Charities Regulation Act, groups on the night will receive information on how these topics will affect your community group or organisation. Mayo PPN is asking groups to please confirm attendance at this event if possible.
