May date for Westport Airshow

WESTPORT Airshow, one of the highlights of the Westport 250 celebrations, will take place on May 14.

Full details of the show are being announced this evening at a launch event in Westport.

The lineup includes the Breitling Wingwalkers, the world's only aerobatic formation wingwalking team; Catalina Flying Boat, the most-built flying boat of World War II; The Strikemaster, a British jet-powered training and light attack aircraft; and the Irish Historic Flight Foundation - the Boeing Stearman Biplane and the Chipmunks will be showcased by the Foundation. The full lineup will be revealed in the coming weeks.

As well as the aerieal aerobatics, there will be family entertainment including a fun fair along the quays and you can sample the delights from an artisan food and craft markets.

The ground activity starts at 1 p.m., with the airshow starting at 3 p.m.
