Is it an eyesore or a work of art?

SOME people love it and want it left there while other regards it as an eyesore that should be removed.

'It' is the boat that is left moored at the Quay in Westport for quite a few years now adjacent to the football pitch at The Point. Those in favour of leaving it where it is would argue that its rustiness adds character to the area while on the other hand that rustiness is abhorrent to others.

What is inarguable, however, is that it has just been abandoned there and there has to be a health and safety issue for the authorities with having such a large boat moored there in such a public area. At high tide it is possible to step onto the boat from the quayside and that has to be a temptation for the more adventurous type.

Efforts have been made to have it moved in the past but it’s still there. For how long more we’ll just have to wait and see.
