Museum a top attraction in new guide

THE National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Turlough Park, has just been listed as one of Ireland’s best attractions in a new Best of Ireland 2017 guide, by Hot Press magazine.

The guide, compiled annually by the popular music and culture magazine, showcases outstanding places to eat, stay, shop and explore throughout Ireland. Hot Press describes the publication as the ‘definitive insider’s guide’ to Ireland.

This year, the Museum of Country Life, Turlough, Castlebar, is listed as a must-visit destination alongside 21 other leading attractions, such as Glasnevin Cemetery, Cork City Gaol and Glendalough.

Every year Hot Press magazine reaches out to people across the island of Ireland. We gather some of our local stories, from friends, musicians and celebrities alike, into a Best of Ireland guide that’s choc-a-bloc with ideas on how best to explore our many and varied attractions,” said the Hot Press team. “The Best of Ireland is an invitation to take a look around you and appreciate everything this beautiful country has to offer.”

Manager/keeper at the Museum of Country Life, Tony Candon, said the museum is delighted to be listed in the 2017 guide.

As the only National Museum of Ireland site outside Dublin, we know we have a very special cultural site here and we hope Hot Press readers will be sure to schedule in a visit to Mayo to experience all that we have to offer at Turlough Park,” said Mr. Candon.
