Increased garda patrolling of angling lakes after burglaries

ANGLERS and others parking vehicles at Mayo lakes have been issued with a warning by gardai about increased burglar activity in recent days.

Since Easter Saturday, there have been break-ins to separate vehicles parked at Bilberry Lake near Castlebar.

Between 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday last, binoculars, a sat. nav. and a sum of money was stolen from an English registered car parked at Bilberry while the owner was fishing.

And on Easter Saturday, at the same location, a tool set was taken from a vehicle parked at the same location. The theft occurred sometime between midday and six o'clock.

As a result of the incidents, gardai have stepped out patrolling in the vicinity of lakes right through the Mayo region.
