THE public has been invited to select the best location for the planned Christmas ice rink in Castlebar.

In polls being conducted by Castlebar Chamber of Commerce and The Connaught Telegraph on their respective websites, people are asked where they would like to see the facility put in place from mid-November to early January next.

A number of options are given, including the Military Barracks, Castle Street car park, Hoban's car park, The Mall and An Sportlann car park. But an option to nominate another venue is also included.

The rink promises to make the festive season one of the most memorable ever in the county town and the Castlebar Municipal District has offered funding for the attraction destined bring significant numbers to the town

All local traders will be invited to set up stalls surrounding ice rink.

Said Wilson Bird, president, Castlebar Chamber of Commerce: "The poll is to decide the best location of the ice rink for traders and the general public. The cooperation and support of everybody is greatly appreciated. Let's make Christmas 2017 in Castlebar the best ever."
