Weather change on the way but Mayo may escape rain until Sunday

MAYO may avoid the imminent return of the rain until Sunday. 

The glorious weather of the past two weeks is set to change over the coming days, but the west is expected to enjoy dry conditions for most of the coming weekend. 

Accoridng to Met. Eireann, Friday will bring showers, some heavy and prolonged, especially in eastern parts of the province, where there's a risk of thunder.

However it will be brighter in the west with some sunshine and just some well scattered showers. Highest temperatures will range from 13 or 14 degrees in coastal parts to between 15 and 18 degrees inland. Winds will be mostly light northwesterly or variable.

Saturday morning will be dry in most areas with sunny spells. Rain will develop in the southwest during the morning and will gradually spread northeastwards through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees with moderate southerly breezes.

Sunday will be a bright day with a mix of sunshine and showers. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees with moderate southwest breezes.

Early on Sunday night, persistent or heavy rain will develop in the southwest and will spread to all areas overnight along with fresh, gusty southeast winds.
