Food entrepreneur Niall lands keys to a new Nissan

MAYO food entrepreneur Niall Moloney had plenty of cause for celebration this week when he landed the keys to a brand new, taxed and insured car after becoming a Nissan Generation Next ambassador.

Niall (27), from Claremorris, fended off competition from over 1,000 applicants to secure one of  11 places that were up for grabs on the prestigious ambassador programme which helps people to get ahead in life with the backing and support of Nissan.

His success follows a three-week public vote where over 100,000 votes were cast online for 20 finalists. Niall ran an energetic campaign, receiving huge support from family, friends and supporters throughout the county.

Each ambassador was given the choice of a brand new, taxed and insured car from Nissan's award-winning fleet to drive for a year and Niall selected the Qashqai as the car best suited to helping him to take his business to the next level of success.

Niall (pictured), who is a qualified dietitian and an expert in sports and exercise nutrition, created his business, Pow-Cow, after discovering that his clients, who include Connacht Rugby, Irish Olympians, inter-county GAA players and other professional athletes, were struggling to find an enjoyable healthy dairy snack or dessert.

He succeeded in creating great tasting frozen and chilled products with a fantastic nutritional profile that help people to choose better food options and to live healthier, happier lives.

Pow-Cow is already listed in 80 stores across Ireland and is currently expanding to 150 stores nationwide. The business is also on course to begin exporting into the UK and the Middle East, and will be in 25 stores in Dubai by the end of the year.

“I am delighted to become a Nissan Generation Next ambassador and to drive away with a new Nissan Qashqai,†said Niall. “My old car was on its last legs and was becoming a drain on our cash-flow. It's great to have a brand new car that we can rely upon to promote Pow-Cow and to support the stores who stock our product nationwide.

“We are currently preparing to launch nationwide and to launch Ireland's first grab and go quark yoghut. The car couldn't come at a better time. I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and I'm really looking forward to developing my business with Nissan's support.â€

Local Nissan dealer, A. Cleary & Sons, Kiltimagh, backed Niall during the voting stage and are delighted with his success.

“Niall is an exceptional entrepreneur who shares Nissan's commitment to excellence and innovation. We are delighted to welcome him to the Nissan Generation Next ambassador programme and to supply him with an award-winning Nissan Qashqai so that he can drive his business to the next level,†said Paul Cleary, dealer principal with A. Cleary & Sons.
