Victim of River Moy drowning is named

A WOMAN who drowned after falling into the River Moy at Ballina's upper bridge on Friday night last has been named as Mary Philomena Calvey, Clondalkin, Dublin.

In her sixties,  Ms Calvey was formerly from Doolough, Geesala.

Her body was removed from The Quay area early on Saturday morning after an extensive overnight search.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident, anyone who was in the upper bridge area between 11.30 p.m. and midnight on Friday last.

Ms. Calvey's funeral, followed by cremation, is due to take place later this week.
