Plan to show All-Ireland final on big screen in Castlebar is abandoned

PLANS to show the All-Ireland SFC final between Mayo and Dublin at a public venue in Castlebar on Sunday, September 17, have been shelved.

Paul Rodgers, a member of the Spencer Street Traders and Residents Association, confirmed the decision to The Connaught Telegraph this morning.

He explained: “Logistics and time are against us with our proposal to screen the All-Ireland final on a big screen at the Mall, so we're calling it off.”

It is understood the main difficulties related to stewarding, security and insurance.

Mayo County Council had given the association permission to use the Mall for the project.
